Audio/ Sound EngineeringAudio/ Sound Engineering is an exciting and ever-changing field, as the technology on which it is based constantly advances. Engineering traditionally revolves around mathematical and scientific principals used for developments to serve society. However, Audio/ Sound Engineering differs in that it uses audio technology instead of mathematics, and incorporates acoustics physics, music and electrical engineering.

The work of an Audio/ Sound Engineer is varied, and involves mixing, recording, editing, and mastering sound for music recordings, television and radio programs, and movies. A variety of electronic equipment and techniques are used to create a polished sound recording of voices and instruments.

Audio/ Sound Engineers may also manage the sound at live shows, conferences, speeches, or any other event which requires sound projection to an audience. Responsibilities include taking care of the speakers, amps, and other sound equipment. These engineers can be found at the sound desk, or mixing desk, monitoring the sound which the audience hears (the front-of-house sound) and/or the sound heard by the performers on stage.

...focus on marketability of your job skills! What type of history did you study? Asia, Africa, US, European, art, communications, military, architecture, etc? Here in California, you can only teach in area you qualify. Getting a master's degree only makes you a specialist in your area of specialty. Make sure that area is marketable. Have you tried special education or ESL.
